Solar Shingles

Thanks to Jennafer who told me about this product which is just about ready to go.  If this would have been available for THO I would have considered them.  To put this in perspective, a solar panel the size of my roof would easily give me enough power for heating, cooling and cooking.  Talk about sustainable solutions!Solar Shingles

Empress Wu at THO

When I set out the stone path a couple of weeks ago, I wound up with this lovely corner intersection between the path and the patio.

I am hoping to level the first part of the path where the foundation for it is already properly prepared and then next spring I want to put a showy plant there.  I was thinking that the giant Empress Wu Hostas would look amazing there.

Do you think there is a plant that would look better?  It has to be big, not attract insects, and do well in the shade.

In The Corner

Sitting here over the last couple of days and wondering if some money will fall from the sky so that I can finish Tiny House Ontario’s kitchen.  I really do not want to appear as a want-want… it is not that honestly, it is just that it would be nice to have it finished up before I pack up in the fall.  I have been without a
kitchen now for three years.  It would be nice if things were just a little handier because in the winter it is difficult to live/stay here without some indoor amenities.

A sponsor would be awesome someone who makes tiny propane appliances.  How do I find one of these?

Joining forces

The joining of the stoneA quick update before I run for a live music event tonight.  I did another stone run today.  I got enough stone to join the patio with the path.  It is set in but clearly, I have not levelled it.

524 square feet of stone is 100% in place. Roughly 200 of this still is not set to level. It took me a lot of my spare time over 6 weeks to get to this point on it. The job cost me $530 dollars including stone, truck insurance and gas. Still way less than ******* quoted me for the delivery for only 144 square foot of stone. I got nearly four times the stone for $460 less than this company quoted!

I am glad I shopped around and I am grateful to brother-in-law B and sister C for allowing me the use of their truck.

Thanks too, goes out to Mulrooney Trucking where I got the stone from one of their quarries.  Specifically a big thanks to Dan who has been an awesome person to deal with.  Your customer service is excellent and I have recommended you to many people who live in the Kingston area.

An end is in sight and my arms are still not toned… oh well, you can’t have everything…

Updated Image

I am back to work after a bit of a hiatus.  The cloth porch is looking better bit by bit.  I guess it is about 2/5ths level now after spending a few more hours on it.  I still need to get a little more rock but have not been able to do this because of work being done at the quarry.  I can’t gain access.  Thankfully my brother-in-law is willing to keep the truck on the road for a little while longer so I can get this done (I am paying for the insurance).  Thanks B.I.L!  You are awesome!  Patio as of July 31, 2013
