THO Plans, Failed and Realized
I failed in taking care of my current plans because I did something stupid! However, due to my failed plans I had the time to dig out the plans that I fulfilled and promised to share. Here is an explanation for the photo below… and the THO house plans at Tiny House Listings.

What a Porch!
As you all know, I love my cloth porch. It is the room that I use the most, but it was built on the fly and it is not exactly a pretty addition. When I added the boards last winter I purchased them with the intent of actually using them as a roof when I restructure the porch so that it actually looks as nice as it functions.
I am most interested in timber framed logs because I have easy access to this material and I have done a couple of workshops on how to build these things. The material is of course the maples that fell in last year’s drought. They will be good and dry by next spring.
While googling today I came across a fantastic looking but huge porch which is attached to a tiny house. Well… it is actually not a tiny house… but a swimming pool change room at a McMansion, but it could just as easily serve as a tiny house. I know I could live here easily!
Do you think it is still a tiny house if you have a HUGE and decadent porch? I think it would have to count in the square footage.

Solar Shingles
Thanks to Jennafer who told me about this product which is just about ready to go. If this would have been available for THO I would have considered them. To put this in perspective, a solar panel the size of my roof would easily give me enough power for heating, cooling and cooking. Talk about sustainable solutions!

Empress Wu at THO
When I set out the stone path a couple of weeks ago, I wound up with this lovely corner intersection between the path and the patio.
I am hoping to level the first part of the path where the foundation for it is already properly prepared and then next spring I want to put a showy plant there. I was thinking that the giant Empress Wu Hostas would look amazing there.
Do you think there is a plant that would look better? It has to be big, not attract insects, and do well in the shade.
