THO Surprise!

It was a blue moon day.  Tiny House Ontario was there to welcome my arrival, almost as I expected.  She was still Tiny, warm and welcoming.  The scent of wood and white sage were there to greet my nose when I entered.  It was cool and comfy too.  Still, when I went out to the cloth porch there was something amiss… a screw on the cement.  Hmmmm… How did this get here?

Leo!  Leo!  Brilliant Leo!  He slid in and completed THO last weekend.  Now the South side is covered in milk chocolate colored steel and the fascia on the in-house is covered in antique white steel too.   Fantastically, Leo also put the cloth porch back together using the old fabric, so I don’t have to replace that as I had thought.

This was $150 but I gave Leo an additional $20 for gas because he picked up the materials which I did not order the first time.

Now THO is safe waterproof and positively yummy!

THO and International Relations

THO hosted a Tiny international gathering last night.  Three members of our family from Germany and three from Canada along with Hj, me and the four dogs.  It has been a long time coming… my sister was totally surprised, as was I (last week) to see how tall Michael is now.  We both, had not seen him since he was just 9 years old in 2003.  These big distances make for big gaps in our understanding of one another.  It is good to be in touch.

Our dogs were in heaven with all the hands there to pet them.  As well as the possibility of catching a salty potato chip was very exciting to them because this is something which we do not often have.

Unusually, the coyotes were very quiet last night. Perhaps it was the number of people that kept them away?  Or perhaps they had to listen more quietly to understand the language in the cloth porch?

Disorganized, lovely day, to read

I am not sure why I am so drastically disorganized this year.  Today, for example, I went to the Pagan Festival in Kingston in front of City Hall, except I was a week early.  I hope I can remember to go again next week when it is really on.  I want to see the Norse sword work.

There was nothing lost because, the day is gorgeous here in the Kingston area and it is just nice to sit around the house both in and outside with my dogs.

I had to read a draft for a fellow writer in Hamilton and this is a good place to read quietly.  I will write this post and head back because there is a book by a fellow Canadian writer, Bianca Lakoseljac, that I started last week and have not found the time until today and thus I would like to finish reading it.

Green Man

When I look into the forest I very often see faces in the trees.  Some people refer to these as green man.

Here is a nice depiction by the artist Lauri Alexander.

In the evening there is a green man in the forest who can be seen clearly looking at me whilst I sit on the cloth porch.  Unfortunately, my camera is not of the quality that I can catch him when the light is behind him is perfect and he shows himself to me really clearly.  This is my Southern green man in the day.  Do you see him?  I am happy that he is still there, and still green…

Who Knows What Tomorrow Brings?

Tiny House Ontario, is always in transition.  When I go back there in the morning I think that Leo will have some things done there.  I am not 100% sure because I have not reached him.  I hope he will have the rest of the siding up as well as the eves trough, j-trim and facia.  If he was there, I have to fix the cloth porch.

If everything above is done, as far as the rest of this year goes there are a few small plans which I would like to see done.  This is to hook up the rain barrel and hook up the solar system.  We may also install a stove, but this has yet to be seen.

Left on the agenda for next years are some big jobs, such as, the well and pump install, the hickory floors cut, hand hewn and installed, the kitchen install and the stone patio with walkways.   I already know that I want to have a small clay oven on the patio but I saw a photo today which makes me believe that I may also need to have an arbour on this patio.  I would strongly prefer that the pillars be from fallen trees from my land and that the arbour have a canvas water repellant roof.

Any thing I have forgotten or should consider?
