Tiny Bit Awake & Remembering

I awaken.  The sun has not yet pushed the darkness to the forest floor.  There is a noise.  I quickly realize is Minnie, whose trachea is collapsing and she is terrified trying to find her airway.  I do the only thing that I can do for her, which is to calm her.  I pet her from her head down her back to her tail, slowly, over and over.  I calmly reassure her.  “You are OK Minnie.  Sweet little Min.  Pretty little Mosie.  Baby Button Face.  Good little Minner.  It is OK good girl.”   I lay next to her, diagonally across the bed in the loft of Tiny House Ontario with my head in the window.  When it is just the dogs and I here, I very often sleep like this, so I can watch the forest shadows dance through the night.  Minnie finally starts to breath normally and when she does she turns to look right at my eyes.  She does this for a long while, big saucer eyes with her giant ears laying back flat on her head still, she looks relieved.  I am sure she is thanking me for my help.

It is a terrifying illness to which we lost a beautiful little boy, Klein, last February.  Minnie has a very mild case when compared to his.  Thankfully.  We do not medicate her at all or keep phenobarbital on hand for her.  Hers is simply not severe enough to warrant this drastic medical interference.  Klein was on the stuff nearly the whole of his short life.  He sounded like a train when he walked and if we brought him into public people stopped to stare.  He really loved people.  He was sick and he grew fat though we watched his diet closely, he was Stealth.  He would always make it into the dining room with the children when they were small and was what our vet calls “an easy keeper” which means that he did not need much food to live.  In human beings we call this a slow metabolism.  The only thing that made Klein angry was wasabi peas.  He was a great wasabi warrior.

I look at my watch.  It is 5:12 am.  Minnie and I look out the window together.  The sky is brighter now but the forest is still all shadows.  The black has turned to grey with hues of green now.  It will incrementally change according to the neighboring rooster and the thousands of songbirds who help the sun chase the shadows down into the ground so that the sun may nourish the forest with its light.

Minnie cuddles herself down into the bed for a nap and I join her.  The wind and the birds are our lullaby.

Two Little Showers

There was a little rain last night which brought cooler air with it.  The comfy rainy morning sleep made me stay in bed just a little longer.  Rudigrrrr Wolf woke me by barking and jumping on my head.  I knew that he had to go badly to the bathroom, so I pushed my groggy head up and off the pillow.  Pulled myself up, shuffled over to the stairs and leaned to pick him up and carry him downstairs.  When I lifted him up, he started to pee.  He peed over the floor, the stairs, the other dogs and me.  Poor Bad Little Wolf waited a bit to long to wake me up.

So, I had to wash the dogs a little, and because I was already bugging them I decided I would clip their nails and put on their Sentinal since these are things that they hate and I thought I would bug them once large instead of three times small.  I also put my jammies and towels into a laundry bag and bring them to be washed.  I decided to throw them in at Liisa’s.  She is at work.  When I arrived there, two nice juicy piles of cat vomit where there waiting for me, one on the entryway mat and one on the way to the laundry room.  So I cleaned that up.  Well, I picked up the vomit off the door mat and floor and threw the mat outside for Liisa to deal with.

Then I drove to town to get dog food.  I  arrived at 9:30 am to do a bit of on line stuff, check my bank account and found that $400 was taken for a “loan payment” from my account.  FFS!  What a morning!

Visibly freaked out, I ran to the bank only to find that the money that I thought had been stolen was simply a little extra transfer that I had made to the mortgage and they changed the way that they code it.  Nothing missing but my pride, since I went in there at about a billion miles an hour with my freak on – heart pacing…

So what I am saying is that it is not yet noon, and I have been yelled at, jumped on, peed on, vomited for, robbed and humiliated.  I wonder how the rest of the day will unfold?

Too funny to keep to myself.

Here are the rainy lovely morning trees.  Peace out…

PRIDE

Yesterday, I was one of the marshals at Kingston Pride Parade.  It was a great day.  I took up the end behind the police car to be sure that everyone got through the intersections before the cars could continue on with their day.

I have posted here to show you a little bit of PRIDE of my own.

Just so you know this is a Steam Whistle (beer) who were there and who were also sponsors.  I love that beer!

Tiny Open House

Tiny House Ontario had a few friends over the other night.  I took some photos of my friends, some are more camera shy than others and some are more photogenic than others.  Please note that I am not in the photos… LOL!  The line has to be drawn somewhere!

There were 12 people at the get together but it was a little bit staggered  – 6 people were no-shows, but it is PRIDE weekend in Kingston and I know that a few people got busy with this event, and another just plain forgot the date and showed up a day late with his guitar.  With the number of people we had, it did not feel crowded to me, but of course I live in a Tiny House, and I am not sure how my guests felt about it.

It was wonderful to have children there!  The dogs also settled in and were happy to have company to pet them and also to give them junk food.
